Manchester City vs Everton Match preview & Possible lineups
- Updated: October 14, 2016
After missing Premier league’s action in the last two weeks, some entertaining clashes are to happen. At the Etihad stadium, Toffees are expected to do some footballing. This will be happening on 15th October 2016 at exactly 1700hours EAT. Ronaldo Koeman and Pep will be meeting for the very first time since they parted ways at Barcelona as players. The two greats won four liga trophies and a UEFA title at Barcelona between 90/91 and 94/95 seasons. Now they rival at the touchline. Who is who?
Pep wishes to get back to winning ways after a shocking slashing at White Hart Lane. The Citizens have a recent sweet history against the Toffees. In fact they haven’t lost a single game in their last six meetings. The have only drawn twice and won the rest. They have only conceded once in their last four top flight meetings. The Citizens have been scoring more than a goal since Pep happened. However, the White Hart Lane guys proved otherwise by totally expelling the Citizens fierce attacking department. They have also shipped five goals in their last two outings meaning something is not in order. This must be looked into before a free fall smiles at them.
Ronald’s men did a stunning draw against C Palace to stand at 14 points. They have every reason to cut the gap between them and their opponent who leads the league with 18 points. Koeman is doing well in mind games but a classy Pep is a worthy threat.
The most astonishing rumours to the Citizens were the absence of Sergio. However, the picked thing during the international break will not hinder him from participating on Saturday. However, Sagna, KDB and Kompany will not feature in this as their injuries are still live and kicking. Delph and Sterling are racing towards fitness and might not taste the grounds till later stages of the match on Saturday. Bravo is still the best shot stopper at the moment. Zabaleta is the only right back as Sagna is not around. I would pick Clichy infront of Kolarov to prevent closes from these blue lads. Stones and Otamendi remains the best central defence partnership at the club. Fernandinho and Ikay can man the midfield for the Citizens allowing Nolito, Navas and Silva to form an attacking machine upfront. Aguero being the target man remains the best idea.
Koeman’s lads might have a full squod as only McCarthy and Lenon are doubtful. Their star man Lukaku had picked some muscle strains in the international duty but this wouldn’t be a reason for him to rest. It has also been confirmed that Jangielka will also be ready to maintain his role. After a hamstring problem which kept him out for three games, Bains is fit to scare the Citizens’ right winger away. If I were Koeman, Stekelenburg would do the goalkeeping. Coleman and Baines are the best candidates to keep off Manchester City’s wingers. Jangielka and Williams can man Kun and Silva successfully. Mirallas, Barry and Cleverly makes the best midfield helping Barkley Lukaku and Bolasie to do the poaching.
