Ligue 1 side favorites to sign former Premier League manager

French club Nantes are reportedly winning the race for Claudio Ranieri’s signature but face stiff competition from Crystal Palace, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

His next destination is reportedly close to being decided, and could be revealed today.

The Ligue un side are favorites to land the former Leicester boss, but the fact that no deal has been finalized yet due to the league’s requirement that all coaches above the age of 65 years should get special approval, leaves Crystal Palace within a
chance of landing him as well.

The vastly experienced Italian tactician has had a a coaching career spanning 30 years, managing over 14 different teams in four different countries, leading unfancied Leicester City to a storybook premier league title triumph last year but got sacked a few months later after his team’s downturn in form which saw them get into a relegation battle.

That seems not to have made him short of suitors though as Nantes are determined to make him Sergio Coenciao’s replacement while Leicester also want him to replace Sam Allardyce, who resigned as the Eagles boss and retired from management altogether.
