Premier League Predictions : Week 9

Chelsea v Watford-

The Blues look rattled at the moment, as they haven’t been the same after that footballing lesson at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s Man City, and have followed that defeat up with another at Selhurst park in the league and a draw against Roma in the champions league in a game they were also losing. The main reason has been the lack of a proper focal point up top as their record signing Alvaro Morata was nursing a muscular pull, and his deputy Michy Batshuayi has simply not been able to get the job done, and they will need to get it together as they welcome a high flying Watford side to Stamford Bridge.

The Hornets have simply been on fire under Marco Silva, and continued their excellent start to the season with a splendid 2-1 win over Arsenal last Saturday, where they came from behind. This will definitely be no walk in the park for the reigning champions as they will be coming up against a side that is industrious, fearless and extremely dangerous, but with Alvaro Morata back, I just think the Blues will nick this one, only just.

Prediction: 2-1

Huddersfield v Man United-

The terriers were on the losing end at The Liberty Stadium last weekend, which makes it two defeats in a row: and their task is not about to get any easier as Jose Mourinho’s Man United will be coming to town.

United on the other hand nicked a very good point at Liverpool in a game they were on the back foot for most periods, something we haven’t seen from the Red Devils this season, but we also saw that element that makes Mourinho a winner as he was able to acknowledge that things were not going to go their way and simply shut up shop and took the point and clean sheet with both hands.

The tough schedule and poor run o results seems to be getting the better of Huddersfield and I foresee another tough afternoon for them on Saturday.

Prediction: 0-3

Man City v Burnley-

The question on everyone’s lips at the moment is: who can stop Man City?

The Etihad Stadium outfit are simply running over and through anyone that stands in their way, and they way they dismantled a decent Stoke side putting seven goals past them with consummate ease and playing an excellent Napoli team off the park in the champions league in midweek with little effort shows that they are a force to be feared this term.

Burnley are a decent side that works hard and fears no team, and got a very good win at Goodison Park but this is an entirely different ball game, and they should be very afraid of this city side, and I personally fear for them here.

Prediction: 5-0

Everton v Arsenal-

The first of two North London v Mersey side clashes of the day, this game pits two teams who are in a ditch as far as league form is concerned.

Everton lost to Burnley at home in their last league game while Arsenal’s insipidity and wastefulness saw them squander a first half lead and end up losing the game so a defeat for either will plunge them into a full blown crisis so early in the season.

This will be an extremely tight game with both teams looking not to give anything away, but i just feel that the Toffees’ impotence in front of goal could prove costly as their visitors have a plethora of weapons they can hurt them with on the other end.

Prediction: 0-2

Tottenham v Liverpool-

Spurs finally got the Wembley monkey off their backs with ah hard fought 1-0 win over Bournemouth, and followed it with a superb display of courage and discipline against the European champions Real Madrid in their own backyard.

Liverpool on the other hand gave a great showing against United, but lacked that cutting edge upfront to make the difference, and are clearly missing the directness and goal threat provinces by their injured Senegalese start Sadio Mane, but didn’t miss him in midweek as they absolutely destroyed Maribor by putting seven past them on their own turf.

This will be an evenly contested Both sides love to press their opponents to submission without the ball and it’s got a draw written all over it.

Prediction: 1-1
