Premier League Predictions : Week 12

Arsenal v Tottenham-

Arsenal were simply outclassed by a rampant City team at The Etihad two weeks ago, but I believe that had Arsene Wenger selected his team well, the result would have been different as it lacked balance especially in attack, which made it very easy for City to smother them with their aggressive relentless pressing. But they will need to put that result behind them as they welcome the enemy from across the street tomorrow in an early kick off.

Spurs meanwhile were able to get another win over a steadily improving Crystal at Wembley under their belt which puts them in good stead for this epic showdown, and will be massively relieved that star striker Harry Kane, who has scored six goals in five games against Arsenal, Dele Alli and captain Hugo Lloris will be fit for the derby.

Being a derby, the game will not be short of intensity and both sides will go for it, but Spurs have had the upper hand in the last six clashes winning two and drawing four and Mauricio Pochettino is the first ever full time Spurs manager to manage more than one NLD and remain unbeaten, and is yet to lose a North London Derby against Arsene Wenger and I think that record will remain intact on Saturday, while Arsenal will do whatever is necessary to avoid a second consecutive league defeat.

Prediction: 1-1

Crystal Palace v Everton-

The Eagles will be feeling hard done by after losing at Tottenham two weeks ago; a game they had played well enough to earn at least a point, and will be itching to make up for that when they welcome an Everton side that will be in high spirits after their 3-2 win against Watford, where they had to come from two down and will feel that the victory was a turning point of their performances which have been dismal at best.

The Eagles have been formidable at home lately, but more often than not, have been lacking that ruthlessness to put some of the games which they have been dominating away, but they will not have it their way against a Toffees side that will be desperate to turn their fortunes around.

Prediction: 0-0

Leicester v Man City-

The foxes have been a different side under Claude Puel, and were immense against Stoke at The Bet365 stadium, and they will feel they had done more than enough to win that game but Peter Crouch denied them victory in the later stages of the game, and will switch their attentions to the runaway league leaders Man City, who simply swept Arsenal under the rug on their previous game, and could have won by more if they had been a more clinical in the first half.

Leicester comprehensively beat City in the corresponding fixture last season, but this is an entirely different City side that is aggressive, focused and ruthless, and as much as the 2016 champions will take the fight to the league leaders, I just feel that The Manchester based outfit have enough quality to nick this one.

Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v Southampton-

The Reds absolutely dismantled the Hammers in East London, courtesy of a Mo Salah masterclass, and looked like they would score every time they went forward, and they will be looking to deliver a repeat performance against the Saints as they intensify their bid for a top four berth.

The Saints, meanwhile, were sucker punched by a very industrious and organized Burnley side and will be looking to make amends at Anfield, but their problem has been lack of goals and they will need some inspiration if they’re to come away from Anfield with anything: which I don’t see happening as they don’t defend well enough, and against the likes of Coutinho, Firmino and Salah, you will have to be ultra diligent defensively if you’re to keep them at bay.

Prediction: 3-1

West Brom v Chelsea-

The Baggies’ shaky away record continued at Huddersfield Town as they went down 1-0 at the John Smith Stadium, but at The Hawthorns, they’re a different animal, and they will be looking to impose themselves against a Chelsea side that has been far from impressive this season, but make no mistake about it, they are still a top class team capable of producing a great performance, as they showed with their win against Man United and will be aiming for nothing less than a win as they look to get closer to Man City.

The Baggies have proven to be an immovable object at the West Midlands and will definitely cause the champions all sorts of problems but I think Antonio Conte’s men will be equal to the task.

Prediction: 1-2

Man United v Newcastle-

United were absolutely insipid in their loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and I could easily attribute that to Jose Mourinho playing Chelsea’s game by adopting a 3-4-3 formation which played right into the Blues’ hands as they struggled to create much against the champions who were rejuvenated by the return of N’golo Kantè in their engine room.

Newcastle were also poor in their last fixture, losing to Bournemouth at home, and were average for large parts of the game, and asking them to go to Old Trafford and come away with anything will be asking for too much.

Jose Mourinho will definitely demand a response so that they can keep piling the pressure on their crosstown rivals, and I think he will get an emphatic one.

Prediction: 3-0
